JUNE 21, 2012: 'Shut Up & Sell More' Presentation at eBay Radio Party

Jason T. Smith on left and Bryan Goodman on right.
Here are the 'Boys' sitting at their speakers table putting the final touches on the presentation for Thursday morning. Nearly 200 people attended as they kicked off the morning by waking up what seemed like a very hung-over crowd (Hey, it's ok, it's Las Vegas).
The talk included information about sourcing products at thrift stores for resale as well as motivational encouragement to SHUT UP AND SELL MORE. The end of the speech was highlighted with a fun, interactive, on stage shopping experience which tested a couple of volunteer audience members, finding out which one had the superior shopping powers (No wagering was allowed in this Las Vegas game).
This was the second year for Thrifting with the Boys to present at this event, and they did not let the audience down. They came out swinging with a brand new seminar. As usual the 'Boys' left the crowd wanting more.
NOTE TO Jason and Bryan: Next photo at your table sit on the side that matches your names. It's easy to confuse the two of you.

A Very Special Thank You to the One and Only: GriffJason and Bryan sincerely wish to extend an important message to a true legend at eBay: Jim 'Griff' Griffith. Griff has been an inspiration to both of us and we admire his willingness to mentor, share and care. Griff is not only the longstanding host of eBay Radio but he was the first customer service representative for eBay.
Griff is special in that he understands the needs of all eBay sellers both large and small. He is able to answer questions with insightfulness and with a unique sense of reason. Griff appreciates the world and through his travels has created a symbiotic connection with not only the eBay community, but all the people he has conversed with over the years. Griff has been a special inspiration for Thrifting with the Boys, and we really do appreciate his comments, suggestions and guidance he has given so graciously throughout the years. Here is a very heartfelt thank you toast to Griff from Bryan and Jason. |
Niche Broadcasting and the Future of Thrifting Talk
Bryan and Jason met on the chat board of eBay Radio back in early 2009. They both were devoted listeners of the niche broadcast that was dedicated exclusively to a subject they both enjoyed: Selling on eBay. That year eBay announced that they were no longer having eBay live, the jumbo 10,000+ attendees convention that had been a yearly event for a while. Naturally the regulars who listened to eBay radio were disappointed. eBay live traditionally was an event were sellers connected and became friends. A conversation on the chat board was sparked. Why not get together anyway? Maybe a dozen or so chat board friends would figure out a way to meet up. Someone suggested Las Vegas. Bryan immediately chimed in that he would go. Jason volunteered his services as a Las Vegas ambassador and before you knew it the 'party' turned in to a huge two day seminar for about 300 people! Jason and Bryan met and became friends at that first party. By the third event the 'Boys' had become speakers.
eBay radio is a great source of information and is on twice a week for a total of five hours of programming. They have guests (including Jason & Bryan) and feature call in portions. The show is all about selling better on eBay. The show feature host Griff and co-host Lee Mirabel. We highly recommend you check it out. eBay Radio.
As for the future of Thrifting Talk......that is still up in the air. People have asked Jason and Bryan about doing radio and it is something they are considering. So the future may be a niche type of broadcast with a thrifting premise, or it could be more.. One thing for sure is that Jason & Bryan both like to talk ......so don't touch that dial.
